After our trip to Palm Springs, we made our way to Vegas to get married! We decided to drive in the direction of Joshua Tree National Park and then carry on driving to Vegas. After 45 minutes on the road, we arrived at the information office and they told us what route to follow to cross the park. We had very little time as it would soon get dark, so we tried to be as quick as possible.

We ended up in the Mojave desert, where the horizon is made up of Joshua trees. There were a few round rocks shaped by time and cacti. There was absolutely no one!

ESP

No había nadie!

We loved the landscape so much that we ended up staying for quite a while, but we eventually made our way back to Vegas. It was getting dark and we didn’t want to drive around the desert at night but we had no other choice.

ESP

We didn’t see a gas station since we left Palm Springs so we recommend that if you decide to do this trip that you ensure you have enough petrol. We had to stop over at a gas station near the famous Motel Roy on Route 66. It wasn’t very nice and the three guys at the gas station were a bit creepy, so we bought some stale biscuits and we legged it.

ESP

We thought that that was going to be the worst thing that would happen but we didn’t really know what was to come… On our way to Vegas, driving around the Mojave desert, we got caught in one of the strongest storms that we’ve ever seen. The most impressive thing of all was that we never came across another car and we felt like we were alone in the middle of nowhere. Word of advice: don’t drive on your own on the way to Vegas at night.

ESP
