we will come back as much as we can.

Ok so, if you want to walk a city full of slopes, you better sleep well. If you want to enjoy the pleasure of a good sleep and you still don’t have a place to do it, we recommend you Valverde Hotel and Four Season Hotel Ritz Lisbon. If you have a car and you are a nature lover, Herdade do Moinho Novo is made for you, and it’s located just 30 minutes from the city.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and walking through Poço dos Negros street you will find a bunch of options to do it. Hello, Kristof and Dear Breakfast are two of our favorite places to charge energy and getting the day off to a good start.
At the same street you can find more places that you might like, as 27 store for example, so as unfortunately we can not survive with just breakfast, this is a good option to come back and have brunch or lunch, as you prefer.
Now that we had breakfast and we feel strong enough, we are going to Barrio Alto taking Poço dos Negros street. It’s only 200 metres away, but it’s called Barrio Alto for a reason: you have to be ready to climb hills and, of course, to enjoy some of the best views of the city.
At the corner of Rua Ro Almada and Rua Marechal Saldanha you can actually see one of the most picturesque views of the town. Just at the next street you can find the famous Bica elevator, one of the most iconic pictures of Lisboa with that big slope and the eternal yellow tram in the middle. What’s the best thing that you can do at Barrio Alto? Get lost. That’s the best plan to enjoy all the details and and stories that this neighbourhood offers through its shops, walls, tiles, and little restaurants.

If you want to visit a place full of unique and typical Portuguese products, A Vida Portuguesa is a must; if you want to taste the best custard tart just go to Manteigueira, imagine how good it is that we don’t even have a picture; if you fancy a burger we recommend you To.B To Burger or not to Burger. If you have time to go on a special tour with a different perspective, take the 28 tram in Praça Luis de Camoes.
From Barrio Alto you can go on a walk to Baixa, one of the most touristic neighbourhoods of Lisbon. A walk through Plaça de Comercio and some pictures at Cais da Colunas are almost mandatory things if you visit Lisbon. Also, we are sure that Santa Justa Elevator will catch your attention too, of course you have to visit it!

It might take some time to get into the Elevator, but we assure you that it will be worth it. The views are amazing and it’s one of the most photogenic spots of the city. We’ve been there a couple of times and the best moment to go, in our point of view is the sunset.
One of our favorite routes is going from Baixa to Barrio Alto by Rua da Misericordia. Halfway through we find São Pedro de Alcantara garden, with a fabulous viewpoint and a font that invites you to stop for some minutes, take pictures and admire the city. If what you want in that moment is take a break to eat something in the area, you should visit The Decadente, bar-restaurant next to the viewpoint.

If we continue by Rua Dom Pedro V, we’ll find Principe Real garden. On our way we’ll see that this area is full of people and restaurants. If you are a pizza lover, you should go to ZeroZero, it has a nice terrace. Another must of the area is A Cevicheria.
Alfama is another popular neighbourhood. You should begin the tour from Praça do Comécio and end it at Castelo de São Jorge. We like to walk from one point to the other, but you can also go by tram.
Walking up by Rua Augusto Rosa we finish at another famous viewpoint of the city (and one of our favorites): Miradouro de Santa Luzia.

From there you can enjoy the perfect mix of sun, roofs and the typical blue tile balconies. To this, unfortunately you should add lots of tourists, because is one of the most visited viewpoints, so try to go there pretty early. If you get a bit lost on the surrounding streets, don’t worry, because you found a little treasure, all the elements that represents the Portuguese capital essence: pottery shops, little bars with terraces where have a glass of wine, walls full of beautiful tiles, neighbours washing hung out in the sun, and slopes that link all the roads to the castle.
We say this in the this video, but anyway, we posted a picture of this street in Instagram and a lot of people asked about it. Is called Beco do Maldonado, and it’s a shortcut to the highest part of the neighbourhood, with a wall full of eyes.

After walking to the highest spot of the city, the best thing to do is have a break to breath, and some years ago we discovered the best place to do it. The Café de Garagem is a small place located just next to Castelo de São Jorge, you can drink and eat something while you ask yourself «Did I really came up here on foot?»
LX Factory is one of our favorite places of the city. It’s located in an old factory and the space is full of art, design, literature and food. It well worths a visit, because you get to know a different part of the city, more contemporary with an industrial air that remind us of Brooklyn.
To us, the strength of LX Factory and the reason why we always come back is the book shop inside it. It has two floors and you can get lost there for hours! At the top there is an old printing, and you can also visit it.
And if you are an architecture lover, you can’t miss this journey to the future. It’s slightly further away from Lisbon centre, but to visit Champalimaud Foundation is something you really should do. Is a quiet, unique and a free – tourists spot, perfect for a walk.
Para empezar a recorrer una ciudad llena de cuestas es imprescindible dormir bien. Si quieres disfrutar de unas horas de sueño increibles y aun no tienes alojamiento te recomendamos el Hotel Valverde y Four Season Hotel Ritz Lisbon. El desayuno es la comida más importante del día y por la calle Poço dos Negros vas a encontrar unas cuantas opciones. Hello, Kristof y Dear Breakfast son dos de nuestros sitios favoritos para cargar pilas y empezar con buen pie.
En la misma calle encontrarás más sitios que pueden gustarte, como 27 store, así que como no solo de desayuno vive el hombre (ojalá) siempre es una buena opción volver para la hora del almuerzo o el brunch y disfrutar de todo lo que nos ofrece esta calle.
Ahora que ya hemos desayunado y tenemos fuerza, vamos a subir por Poço dos Negros hasta Barrio Alto. Está solo a unos 200 metros, pero se llama Barrio Alto por algo y hay que estar preparado para subir cuestas y, también, para disfrutar de algunas de las postales más bonitas de la ciudad.
La esquina de Rua Ro Almada con Rua Marechal Saldanha nos regala una de las vistas más pintorescas de la ciudad y, justo en la calle de al lado, tenemos el elevador de Bica, una de las fotos más famosas de Lisboa con su enorme cuesta y el eterno tranvía amarillo en el centro. ¿Lo mejor que hacer en Barrio Alto? Perderse. Es el mejor plan para disfrutar de todos los detalles e historias que nos ofrece el barrio a través de sus escaparates, fachadas, baldosas y pequeños restaurantes.

Si te apetece visitar una tienda llena de productos únicos y cien por cien portugueses, A vida portuguesa es un must; si quieres probar los mejores pasteles de nata, te recomendamos Manteigueira, tan ricos que no tenemos foto; si tienes ganas de hamburguesa te recomendamos To.B To Burger or not to Burger o si tienes tiempo para hacer un recorrido especial desde una perspectiva diferente, pilla el tranvía 28 en Praça Luis de Camoes.
Desde Barrio Alto puedes llegar caminando hasta Baixa, uno de los barrios más turisticos y concurridos de la ciudad. Un paseo por la Plaça de Comercio y alguna foto en Cais da Colunas son casi obligatorias en la visita a Lisboa. Pero si hay algo que te llamará la atención paseando por Baixa y que debes visitar es el Elevador de Santa Justa.

Puede que te tengas que esperar un poco para subir hasta el elevador pero te aseguramos que merece la pena. Las vistas de la ciudad son increibles y es uno de los puntos más fotogénicos de Lisboa. Hemos subido un par de veces y al atardecer es, sin duda, el mejor momento para disfrutar de las vistas con una luz única.
Uno de nuestros recorridos favoritos es subir desde Baixa o Barrio Alto por Rua da Misericordia. A medio camino nos encontramos con el Jardim de São Pedro de Alcantara, con un mirador precioso para pasar un par de horas descansando y disfrutando de las vistas. Si lo que te apetece es tomar algo o comer por esa zona, te recomendamos The Decadente Bar & Restaurante, justo al lado del mirador.

Si seguimos subiendo por Rua Dom Pedro V podemos llegar hasta Jardim do Principe Real. Por el camino veremos que es una zona con mucho ambiente y llena de restaurantes. Os recomendamos la pizzería ZeroZero, sobre todo su terraza, y A Cevicheria, otro imprescindible de la zona.
Alfama es otro de los barrios más populares de la ciudad. Os recomendamos hacer un recorrido teniendo como punto de partida la Praça do Comércio hasta el Castelo de Sao Jorge. Nuestra opción favorita es hacerlo a pie para poder ir parando donde nos apetezca pero también puedes subir hasta el castillo usando el tranvía.
Subiendo por Rua Augusto Rosa llegamos hasta uno de los miradores más famosos de la ciudad y uno de nuestros favoritos: el Miradouro de Santa Luzia.

Desde allí se puede disfrutar de una mezcla perfecta de sol, tejados y los balcones de azulejos azules tan típicos de este mirador. A esa mezcla puedes añadirle decenas de turistas ya que es uno de los miradores más visitados, así que si vienes aquí temprano, mucho mejor. Si te pierdes por todas las calles de alrededor encontrarás todos los elementos que representan la esencia de la capital portuguesa: tiendas de cerámica, bares con pequeñas terrazas para disfrutar de un buen vino, azulejos decorando las fachadas de los edificios, la ropa de los vecinos secandose al sol y las cuestas que unen todos los caminos hacia el castillo.
Ya os lo contamos en este vídeo, pero en uno de los viajes que hicimos colgamos una foto en instagram de esta calle y recibimos decenas de comentarios preguntando el lugar exacto en el que tomamos la foto. Es Beco do Maldonado, un atajo para llegar antes a la zona más alta del barrio y con una pared llena de ojos.

Después de subir hasta lo más alto de la ciudad lo mejor es parar un poco para respirar y hace unos años descubrimos el sitio perfecto para hacerlo. El Café de Garagem es un pequeño café que se encuentra justo al lado del Castelo de São Jorge, puedes beber y comer algo mientras disfrutas de las vistas pensando “¿De verdad yo he subido a pie todo eso?”
LX Factory es uno de nuestros lugares favoritos de la ciudad. Está ubicado en una antigua fábrica y es un espacio lleno de arte, diseño, literatura y comida. Merece la pena visitarlo para conocer otra cara diferente de la ciudad, más contemporánea y con un aire industrial que nos recordaba a Brooklyn.
Para nosotros, el punto fuerte de LX Factory y la razón por la que siempre volvemos es su librería Ler Devagar, una de nuestras favoritas en el mundo. Tiene dos alturas y de suelo a techo encontramos libros de todos los géneros y en todos los idiomas en los que es fácil perderse durante horas. En la parte superior se puede visitar lo que fue una antigua imprenta.
Y si eres amante de la arquitectura no puedes perderte este viaje al futuro. Está un poco alejando del centro de Lisboa pero la visita a la Fundación Champalimaud merece la pena. Es un lugar tranquilo, unico y alejado de los turistas, perfecto para disfrutar de un paseo
