Truth be told, our Florida trip has been very special, and a lot of it has to do with renting a car and spending some days at the Keys. We started our road trip in Miami heading to Key West, the southest spot in the United States, and to go through we had to cross the US1 Overseas Highway -an amazing road that goes over 200km into the sea. We had seen a thousand times pictures of highways surrounded by a dessert, but nothing like this, a highway that divides the ocean into two and makes you travel with an infinite blue landscape, with Mexican Golf at the right side and the Atlantic ocean at the left side. To get to Key West you have to go cross all the other Florida Keys, so if you want a piece of advice, take your time to do so, since you’ll find postcard-like beaches, idyllic natural parks, souvenir shops that seem theme parks and tones of motels from the movies. And if there’s something you have to try when in the Keys, that’s the Key Lime Pie -the best one is served at Bayside Gourmet in Isla Morada. There are no photos of that, meaning it was really, really good.
