Alejandra Remon

Sensitive and inspiring. Alejandra says everything by her body, soul and photography.

Her texts make thousand of people fall in love

and her book “when nobody’s looking at me” allow us to dive in her universe and look at her so close.

An autumn morning is the perfect environment to get to know her and to ask her more about her feelings, concerns and dreams.

You define yourself as a little emotional, Do you think this could be a big part of your success?

Maybe. I think we are not used to talk about emotions, it’s hard for us to express them. I believe that the reason is the thought that express our feelings will reveal our weakness, but that’s not true actually. All of us have a wonderful inner world, but it’s not easy to put it into words. With me it’s the opposite, I feel more comfortable in writings than in conversations. Maybe that’s the key or the balance, I’m not sure though, I just write about real things, moments and lived sensations. About pain, moods, situations, broken hearts, happiness… It’s easy to empatize when you think that someone is feeling the same as you. There is where magic is. Maybe that’s the real success, talk about real things.

Also, in your personal universe you say you love to transmit sensations, thoughts and memories by your own body. Do you remember how, when and why you began to tell your feelings this way?

I’ve been a long time using my body as a notebook. I’ve always been a very shy person, but taking pictures of me when i’m alone made me feel free, powerful and strong. That’s how i began to express my inner world, from the outer one. All of this began when social media were created, like twelve years ago. I found then a refuge where feed my personal universe and show the kind of things that were inside me. It’s an odd way to show my thoughts, is the title of an argument.

In your book “When nobody looks at me” you talk about disorders (things that you never talked about) and contradictions (things you already told people). Was it difficult or more like a liberation?

It’s always been so liberating to get rid of some mental things by writing them and shouting them loud. We all live with some painful things, and everyone has a method to live with them. Some people write songs, others run forty kilometres, and another people like me, vomit emotions. Anyway, the difficult thing is not just write them, the difficulty is to read it again. When you come back to it, it’s like you are living that moment again and that’s shocking… but at the same time, share it could help others to make them feel they are not alone.

What was the thing that pushed you to publish this book?

Everything came up by chance. An editor contacted and encouraged me to share the feelings I’ve already shared in social media, but in actual paper some years ago. Since that moment the idea was taking shape, but was this year when I published my first “disorders notebook”.

You inspire lots of people, you have more than 43.000 instagram followers. How do you feel knowing that that much people feel identified with the things you write? Have you ever feel a bit of pressure or maybe responsibility because of that?

It really depends on the day. Sometimes is just a game, a way to express my personal and trivial thoughts, and other times I feel my own pressure of writing something good, because there are a los of eyes waiting to read something that show them new ways, new roads. I’m so challenging with myself, I like people to think more about themselves by reading my texts, but that’s also stressing. Sometimes I’m afraid of thinking that my words could become like an absolute truth, as if I had the key of happiness, when the truth is I have still a lot to learn. I am scared of don’t discover anything new day by day, more mysteries… and as well I’m afraid of committing the same mistakes.

Now talking more about you, did you ever wanted to focus your career in fashion and writing?

To be honest, none of them were in my plans. I never had a clear idea of what I wanted to be, but things came this way. Fashion world standed in my way and I fell for it because I love it. Same thing happened with writing. I began writing a long time ago, since I was a kid, but I never thought of actually do something like publish something as pretty as my book. I am really happy.

What do you like to do on a saturday night?

I don’t like to make it a routine, I like to do different kind of things. It’s true that with the years I don’t mind to stay at home watching a documentary or reading a book… but if there’s a funny plan, I like to go out and enjoy! It all depends on my mood and the company of course.

And what about a Sunday afternoon?

I like to go for a walk or to the cinema, maybe some exposition or have lunch with my friends feeling there is no rush.

Do you have something you always wanted to do in your life? I mean, any kind of thing.

I’ve always wanted to live in Paris, but because of some personal and work circumstances I couldn’t make it. Anyway, we never know.

And to end up, a dream or a goal you want to reach?

Publish another book, an apartment with so much light and a smile to break me in thousand pieces

Sensible e inspiradora.

¿Tienes alguna espinita clavada?

Siempre he querido vivir fuera, en París.
